One product. One command.
One digital twin.
OpenTwin turns every product into a standalone digital twin — operational with a single command, serving as a digital product record that stays compliant with the EU Machinery Regulation throughout the machine's lifetime.

The smartphone connects people.OpenTwin connects the product.
Only with its own identity and interface does a product become connectable — just as people did with the smartphone.
Human
The smartphone is what truly connected people: real-time data, services and communication — anytime, anywhere.
Product
OpenTwin gives every product its own identity and REST interface — making it connectable.
Everything a digital twin needs
One twin = one service. Fully independent, reachable worldwide.
Globally unique
Every twin receives an OTID (OpenTwin ID) and is reachable under its own URL.
Independent
Decoupled from enterprise IT. Independent of PLM, ERP, or MES.
API first
REST API for everything: bills of material, documents, status, identity.
Bills of material (BOM)
As-delivered BOM as a tree structure. Import via a versioned JSON contract.
Documents & certificates
Manuals, acceptance protocols, CoCs — stored directly on the product.
Lifecycle management
From SOP to EOL. Every twin knows its full lifecycle.
The binder bolted to the machine is obsolete.
The new EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027 — with no transition period. For the first time it permits purely digital instructions, but only if the documentation stays available for the machine's entire lifetime: at least ten years after it is placed on the market. A loose PDF can't do that — a digital machine record can.
That is exactly what OpenTwin is built for: every machine gets its own instance that carries its bill of materials, documents and maintenance history itself — reachable by QR code for as long as the product exists.
